Who recognized that education was the first component of progress and who believed that the doors of progress would be shut on Sujangarh if the women of this place were not educated; it was not enough that men of Sujangarh had made a great mark in world business.
Who believed that the key to modern development lay with educated, enlightened females who alone could prepare and guide the further generations of the area in meeting the challenges and demands of the changing times.
Who had heard the midnight knock of changing times and apprehended the future shocks that only educated women could be better able to absorb and stand.
Who became a protagonist of female education in the region and founded the Sona Devi Sethia Girls College at Sujangarh in 1966 and thus initiated a revolution in the field of female education of the area. The college, his creation, has since made rapid stride.
This great personality was the renowned industrialist and philanthropist late Shri Sohan Lal Sethia.He was farsighted, he had dynamism and vision to pioneer the first girls college which not only broke social barriers for women of the region but also contributed to the enlightenment of the local population.

Born on 5th September 1913, shri Sohan Lal Ji Sethia,gold medalist from Presidency College, Kolkata the foremost institution of higher education in India, belonged to the illustrious Sethia family of Sujangarh in Rajasthan. Sohan Lal Ji soon acquired a world wide reputation in the jute industry for his entrepreneurial vision. For all his success, he never lost his modesty and carried with him an abiding sense of social responsibility and philanthropy.
