The National Service Scheme (NSS) is a movement aimed at shaping socially conscious, compassionate, and responsible citizens. Launched in 1969 under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India, NSS has been a platform for students to connect classroom learning with real-world societal challenges. What began in 37 universities with 40,000 students has now become a cornerstone of youth empowerment and community service across the country.
At its core, NSS is about fostering personal growth through the service of others, with the guiding motto:
“Not Me, But You”
This simple yet profound message encourages students to put the needs of others before their own, cultivating a spirit of selflessness and community engagement.
NCC aims to nurture the holistic development of young individuals, equipping them with the skills, values, and leadership qualities necessary to serve their nation and communities. Its primary goals include:
Developing a deeper understanding of the societal landscape and its challenges.
Identifying community needs and collaborating to address them effectively.
Instilling a strong sense of social and civic responsibility.
Encouraging the use of academic knowledge to devise practical solutions for community issues.
Fostering teamwork, shared responsibility, and mutual respect.
Nurturing leadership skills to prepare students for future roles in society.
At our institution, we proudly host two active NSS units, each accommodating 100 dedicated volunteers. These units serve as vibrant hubs of community engagement, empowering students to take initiative and drive meaningful change.
Supporting rural development by addressing critical issues such as education, health, and sanitation.
